Stringer, 19, fought against Mike Thompson, the pair having previously met in the cage a year ago in Liverpool when Thompson claimed a narrow split decision win.

In the rematch, Stringer put on a dominant display in the first round and went on to submit the previously undefeated Thompson (5-0-1 record) at 2 mins 30 seconds in the second round via an arm bar, moving Stringer's record to 6-2.

Stringer said: “ I’m over the moon with my performance on Saturday night, it meant so much to avenge a previous loss of mine in such dominant fashion.

“This just shows that all the hard work in the gym pays off and I'm back in the gym training for the next challenge already because this is what I love to do."

2020 is set to be a busy year for Stringer as he aims to defend his UK belt and also to clinch European and world titles at IMMAF competition in August and November.

Stringer was also recently competing in Bahrain in the IMMAFs where he lost out on a split judges decision, but is now preparing for the next round in Rome this summer as he aims to continue flying up the rankings and make a name for himself.

The teenager has been training in MMA since the age of 15 with Squad Jujitsu in Chesterfield and travels round the Midlands to find the best coaches and training partners to improve his skill set.
