The 19-year-old Adlington-Stringer will be defending his UK Fighting Championships (UKFC) lightweight title against Mike ‘The Fury’ Thompson at Preston on Saturday, February 29.

He told his Facebook followers: “This will be my best performance to date. Any support would be massively appreciated.”

Adlington-Stringer, who hails from Wingerworth, will also be seeking revenge because Thompson, who fights out of the MMA Academy in Liverpool, beat him on a split decision back in December, 2018.

But that was one of only two defeats the man based with the Fifty3Degrees MMA school in Chesterfield has suffered in his amateur MMA career so far.

He has won his other five fights handsomely, including last October when he was crowned UKFC lightweight champion by defeating Leon Williams.

That victory earned him the right to fly out to Bahrain a month later to represent England at an International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) tournament.

Sadly, he lost on a split decision to Jordan Zebo, of France, but Adlington-Stringer, who is coached by James Boyle and Tom Sommerset, is back in fine form now and confident of success next month at the UKFC 13 tournament, for which tickets cost from £35.

Thompson is on a winning streak of five after suffering his only defeat, and is currently ranked fifth best amateur lightweight in the country.
