Competing in the long jump for Team GB’s under 18s, she finished second in a five-way match against under 20 teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The contest took place in fairly gloomy conditions, but that didn't stop Ella, an Amber Valley and Erewash AC competitor, from putting together an excellent series of jumps with three of her six efforts over 5.90m.

Her best of 5.93m was an outdoor personal best and was only four centimetres behind Abigail Pawlett, an England U20 competitor.

Ella finished ahead of Wales's Jessica Lee who had a best effort of 5.86m.

Scottish jumper Molly Reville was fourth on 5.67m and Northern Ireland's Lauren Callaghan finished fifth with a best of 5.35m.

The long jump competition also included athletes taking part in the international senior match, and it was a great experience for Ella to jump alongside GB Olympian and 2019 World Championship finalist Abigail Irozuru and European under 23 bronze medalist Lucy Hadaway.
