Spencer riders excel at Lydden for classic race

Terry Brocklehurst took third and fourth places in the aircooled 500cc class after some superb riding saw him battling with the bigger capacity bikes.

In the Junior Production class Spencer Racing had three bikes competing, ridden by Brocklehurst, Steve Panter and Swervin’ Ervin Wallace.

All three riders had four races in that class over the weekend with Wallace beating his team mates in three out of four but crashing out in style in the second race on Saturday.

Luckily not injured, Wallace and the team rebuilt the badly damaged bike throughout the night.

The fairing was smashed, the ‘clip on’ handlebar and clutch lever were broken, gear lever and footrest were also badly damaged.

The bike was ready for the first race on Sunday when Swervin’ proved the crash had not deterred him and the British Red Cross worker came home first for the team, closely followed by Brocklehurst and Panter.

The final round is at Snetterton in Norfolk.
