Richard rides to huge margin of victory in re-scheduled cup trial

The Staffordshire Moorlands Motorcycle Club organised the Bluestones Cup Trial last weekend after the original date of Easter Sunday was postponed due to 10ft snowdrifts.

In the expert route Richard Timperley, the former British Champion and ‘works’ Sherco rider from Dronfield, dominated the event losing just seven marks,

His near-faultless performance saw him finish 30 marks ahead of second-placed Billy Craig and a huge 47 ahead of Buxton’s Liam Robinson.

The course consisted of ten sections of a high standard laid out in woodland and rock strewn moorland.

The 50/50 route also found an easy winner in Kev Hipwell from Peak Forest who finished comfortably ahead of Toby Eyre, Mark Timperley and landowner Stu Day.

Hipwell lost just 13 marks on his way to victory.

The Clubmans class saw Steve Hitchcock riding his elderly twin-shock Honda home to victory.

Second was Simon Critchley on a Majesty and third was Simon Bown on a Fantic, both from the same era.
