Jacksdale ace Ryde sets new lap record

Although he had to be content with fourth place, Jacksdale motorcycle ace Kyle Ryde set a new Knockhill Superstock lap record in the fifth round of the 600cc British Superstock Championship at the Scottish Highland circuit.

The Payzdays team rider had raced at Knockhill before on smaller machines and won races there in 2011 and 2012, during his time in the Motostar 125 Moto3 Championships, but gad never raced a 600cc machine around this tight and sometimes very tricky circuit.

Kyle was fifth on the grid after practice, but didn’t get the start he wanted as he found himself down in eighth.

There followed an eight-lap battle to get past Belfast rider Andy Irvin before Kyle set a new lap record.

He is now one point behind James Lodge in the Championship in third place and the next meeting is on the full Grand Prix circuit of Brands Hatch in Kent, on the weekend of 18th-20th July.
