The ParkinGO MV Agusta rider, from Hayfield, once again looked strong all weekend and was set for another top-ten finish until a late blip saw him drop back to 12th.

The MV Agusta F3 675s looked competitive from the outset.

Iddon went ninth fastest in the opening free practice session before ending the first qualifier in 10th place.

Saturday’s second qualifying session was damp, which was fortunate for Iddon as technical trouble had forced him to sit out the session.

Towards the end of the session, as the track was beginning to dry, the session was red-flagged.

The track was still too damp for anyone to better their previous times which meant the grid remained unchanged from Friday.

Iddon made a good start in the race itself and was up to eighth before being baulked by Ricardo Russo in turn 2.

Iddon then settled into ninth position where he remained for the opening four laps.

However he soon found himself battling with both Kev Coghlan and Florian Marino.

As the laps counted down, Iddon found his way back past Marino’s Kawasaki, into ninth, and began to build a gap.

When Vladimir Leonov retired on lap 15, Iddon moved up to eighth.

However, on lap 16 he hit a false neutral as he approached the hairpin at the bottom of the hill.

He had to stand his bike up and run through the gravel trap, eventually rejoining in 12th.

On the following lap he was passed by Luca Scassa, but he didn’t back down and returned the favour on the final lap, to finish a respectable 12th place.

Iddon will now be hoping to improve next time out, when the Championship heads to Turkey.

Riders will compete in Istanbul from September 13-15.
