Matlock Golf Club hosts its first Invitation Day of the year

Matlock Golf Club opened its doors to guests from other clubs with the first Invitation Day of the season on Sunday.

With wall to wall sunshine and a light breeze, the weather was glorious and ideal for quality golf.

The very recent warmer weather benefited the course and as a result a host of excellent scores were returned by Matlock members and their guests.

Popular winners with 45 points were club vice captain Bob Cash and Ian Bollands, runners-up with 44 points were Sean Bacon and Les Bacon, while in third place, also with 44points, were Adam Gregory and Pete Cliffe.

Nearest the pin on the 15th hole was Chris Roome and nearest the pin on the 18th, with two shots, was Karl Mellor.

The presentation was well attended with people enjoying the late day sunshine and the club showing off the latest new bar arrangement and patio furniture.

In inter-club matches, Wednesday saw the seniors play at home to Chevin and continue with their good form, gaining another victory with an overall score of 3.5 – 2.5.

On a very difficult and blustery day, the vice captain’s team played on Friday at home, securing a convincing 4-2 win over Chatsworth.
