Marsie’s club receives cash boost

Darley Bridge-based club Derwent Bowmen, the club to which Flagg archer Marsie Henderson-Hirst is a member, were delighted to discover that they were to receive a grant of £1,000 from the Derbyshire Community Foundation.

This grant has been used to purchase a much-needed steel container that will replace the club’s ageing wooden storage shed.

Club chairman Christine Oldroyd said: “The grant will allow us to keep our equipment in a more secure situation.

“We are grateful to the foundation for their generosity and plan to make the best use of the container for years to come.”

Last year, Marsie represented GB at the World Youth Archery Championships in China, where she reached the last 32 of the Junior Compound individuals event.
