Jack Lester acknowledges the importance of tomorrow's League Two basement battle but won't call it a '˜must win' fixture.

Bottom side Chesterfield play host to 21st-placed Morecambe in the kind of game the Spireites need to win if they want to get out of trouble.

The Shrimps have just one win in their last five league outings, while Town have lost all five of theirs.

It will be the fourth game of the Lester era and comes at the end of his first full, uninterupted week of training.

“It’s very important to us,” he said. “I don’t want to build it up to be something it’s not, because whatever the result is there’s loads to play for, whether you win or lose.

“We’re going into the game after a very good week’s training, the lads are in a good place.”

Tomorrow is as much a chance to start turning the club’s fortunes around as it is an opportunity to give their long-suffering fans something to shout about.

Lester said: “We want to try and win every game, we’ll go and try to win the game.

“We’re making good strides on the training ground and I’m really pleased by the direction the team seems to be taking.

“I can see little changes happening on the horizon.

“The fans have been fantastic and we have to start repaying them with wins, that’s what we’ll be trying to do on Saturday.”

Tommy Lee remains out with a gash on his knee that will need two weeks, but mercifully no surgery, to heal.

Sam Hird is expected to resume full contact training today after missing two games with a groin injury.

Left-back Jerome Binnom-Williams (ankle surgery) is around four weeks away from a return.
