The Spireites are in dire straits at the bottom of the Sky Bet League One table after succumbing to their eighth successive league defeat.

The visitors created numerous opportunities against Fleetwood Town at Highbury - hitting the bar twice - but only got on the scoresheet when Jay O’Shea fired home from the penalty spot.

“We’ve created some unbelievable chances and we’ve not taken them and that’s where the fault lies at the moment,” admitted Wilson.

“We’ve been creative. We can get down the sides of teams, get into the box but it’s the final touch that’s letting us down.

“The problem is they [players] are there [in the right place] but they’re not finishing them off.

“It’s like a lot of things in football, if you’ve got a striker who’s scoring goals in that position then it’s great but it’s quite the opposite at the moment for us.”

Wilson has the weight of the world on his shoulders at the moment.

His side have failed to pick up a league point since the end of September, five members of the board have stepped down in the space of a week and he has a teams worth of starters currently out injured.

He added: “You can go through the team and then look at the treatment table.

“We’ve got a whole team out on the treatment table and two good substitutes.

“It’s a fact you can’t shy away from and if we had that experience available at any given time then maybe we’d be in a different position to where we are.”
