On Saturday Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced further restrictions for the country which will come into place on Thursday (November 5) until December 2.

But the new rules will not impact ‘elite sport’ – which the National League falls under - so the Spireites can continue to play their matches behind closed doors.

Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Oliver Dowden, tweeted: “As the Prime Minister has just confirmed we will be taking additional restrictions from Thursday.

“We understand the anxiety and impact these will have, and will ensure they last not a day longer than necessary.

“The changes mean people should work from home where possible. But where this is not possible, travel to a place of work will be permitted - e.g. this includes (but not exhaustive) elite sport played behind closed doors, film & tv production, telecoms workers.”
