Harry Tyrer (back) and Joe Quigley (ankle) did not play in the 4-0 win due to injury, but Ash Palmer, Jeff King and Darren Oldaker were simply just not selected.

“No injuries at all, really tough decisions,” assistant manager Danny Webb told the DT.

"The bench is so hard to pick, let alone the starting 11.

"But as you have seen, Banksy a few weeks ago wasn’t even on the bench, and then the next game he starts, now he has started scoring and celebrating in front of the Kop, so that is how quick it changes.

"Kingy, Palms and DJ have been magnificent. Harley Curtis has been the only who did not get near the bench for the while and now he is coming on the pitch and pushing Griggy all the way.”

As Webb mentioned, Ollie Banks found himself out of the team until recently, and he has now scored two goals in two games, including the opener on Tuesday night. The midfielder is playing in a more advanced role and is thriving.

Webb said: "Last year he did ever so well in that two in midfield, but I think with (Tom) Naylor and (Mike) Jones being so strong and dominant in there, it enables him to express himself a bit more, so maybe that weight has been lifted from him.

"He is still an excellent central midfielder, I am sure he would argue he can damn right do that job, as can DJ. At the moment, it is working well with Tom and Jonesy, that is not to say they will continue, Nayls is only one card from suspension, so potentially that gives an opportunity to someone if and when that was to happen.

"Banksy is probably one of the best finishes at the club, he is getting in positions to shoot, and when it is not quite on he is keeping the ball, and that is what the manager’s philosophy is all about.”

Chesterfield return to action on Saturday away at third from bottom Kidderminster Harriers.
