As well as Fondop, who scored 10 goals this season, Sam Wedgbury, Robbie Weir, Lee Shaw, Jay Sheridan, Charlie Wakefield, Levi Amantchi and Jack Holmes will not be re-signed and will leave the club, we have been told.

We understand that midfielder Jonathan Smith has joined Haydn Hollis, Tom Denton, Jamie Sharman, Regan Hutchinson and Luke Rawson in agreeing a new one-year deal “in principle” but none have officially signed.

The following 10 players all have another year to run on their contracts: Luke Coddington, Will Evans, Laurence Maguire, Josef Yarney, David Buchanan, Curtis Weston, Joe Rowley, Scott Boden, Liam Mandeville and Jack McKay.

Providing an update last week, Spireites company secretary, Ashley Carson, said Town are not in a position to commit to any new signings at the moment.

The players, staff and caretaker manager John Pemberton remain on furlough and will continue to do so until it becomes clearer when the new National League season will start.

The EFL is meeting with League One and League Two clubs this week to discuss possible start dates and when supporters will be allowed back in stadiums.

Once the EFL has a definite date, the National League is likely to follow suit.

It is believed that the 2020/2021 campaign could start in mid-September with reduced crowds and social distancing in place.
