TRANSFER RUMOURS: Chesterfield in for Sheffield United and Tottenham Hotspur prospects?

It could prove to be a busy day at the Proact Stadium with rumours already circulating social media a defender and a midfielder are on Chesterfield's radar.

Chief executive Chris Turner said on Friday the club were in talks with a player and remained hopeful of getting the deal done before the 11pm deadline.

It has seen a plethora of names linked with the Spireites from Barnsley’s Sam Winnall to former Spireite Craig Davies, now at League One rivals Wigan.

But with Lee Novak, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Byron Harrison, Mani Dieseruvwe, Rai Simons among those who can adopt a front role - Chesterfield look well-stocked.

The club allowed Armand Gnanduillet to join Leyton Orient, showing further signs Danny Wilson is content with his forward options.

Though if one or the other were to become available on a day when cogs are turning all the time - would the Spireites be interested?

The sale of Sam Morsy has led to most in our recent poll (45 per cent) stating a midfield would be where Chesterfield need to strengthen, shortly followed by defence (35 per cent).

The rumour mills are in full motion with Sheffield United’s Connor Dimaio and Kyle Walker-Peters from Tottenham Hotspur two further players mentioned.

Dimaio can play in either defence or midfield and has featured in the Blades first team as well as Republic of Ireland at under-19s level.

Right or left full-back Walker-Peters made his senior Spurs debut on a post-season tour of Malaysia and Australia in May 2015. He has represented England U18s.
