Swedish Spireites set for first Chesterfield FC match
Two Swedish Spireites supporters are set for their first taste of live action at the Proact Stadium.
Christina Winner and her partner Kjell will travel from Stockholm to Chesterfield to watch the Spireites’ home game against Blackpool on Tuesday, March 1.
The pair will cheer on Danny Wilson’s side on their first visit to the Proact to watch a game, having previously both made purchases from the club shop.
They became hooked on the Spireites when meeting lifelong Chesterfield fan Gil Chapman while travelling in India in 2012 and visited in 2013.
Gil said: “I am a lifelong Spireite, a season ticket holder and go to most games with my mother Fay, who has also watched Chesterfield for almost all of her life (Fay is 80 plus).
“Christina and Kjell now follow the team’s fortunes every week and we exchange texts and e-mails after most games.
“Whilst they have both already visited the club shop and made purchases to take back home to Sweden, this will be the first opportunity that they have had to come to a game and provide our boys with some extra special Swedish support
“Christina is a stand up comedian and has appeared on Swedish television and Kjell retired in 2015. They live just a short drive out of Stockholm in a place called Saltsjobaden.”
Christina and Kjell will arrive in the UK on Thursday, 25 February and will be staying in London. They travel up to Derbyshire on Tuesday morning, on the day of the game, and return to London on Wednesday evening.
