Sunday League: Goal-fest as three teams hit double figures
It was a day of high scoring with three teams reaching double figures with NAPIT TWO leaders FC Utd of Bolsover leading the way with an eighteen goals to nil victory over bottom side Matlock Town Wanderers. Seven days earlier Wanderers had narrowly lost 3-2 after extra time to ONE side Wingerworth BMB in the Alma Cup but they had no answer to United’s powerhouse football with Josh Parfitt top scoring with five goals. Hat tricks from Ash Cheetham and Jack Weaver along with double strikes from Nick Grayson and Josh Scully and one each from Jamie Dews, Gary Holland and Ricky Strong added to Wanderers miserable day. In FOUR Old Whittington MW also conceded double figures, this time to Crown Killamarsh who ran riot, putting ten goals past them, the win moving Crown four points clear at the top. Dan Holmes and Dan Brown both scored trebles for Crown in the victory with Nick Buckley, Matt Beety, Dan Smith and Scott Wilson weighing in with a goal apiece. Completing the trio of double figure scorers were SIX side Hasland WMC who thrashed Lockoford Inn by ten goals to one. In this game Ben Mallinder scored three goals, Matt Bower and Marc Rawson scored two goals each, Nathan Wood, Jonathon Woods and Dave Richards one each.
One game was played in ONE and Creswell Black Diamond defeated Doe Lea by two goals to one moving above Doe Lea in the table as a result.
In TWO Clowne Wanderers 3-0 win at Dronfield Victoria, thanks to goals from Lomas, Summers and Cash moved them above New Whitt, who didn’t play, into second place. Crispin Casuals made it three wins from three games with a 3-0 win over Dronfield Woodhouse, Matt Jowsey, David Collins and Jack Newman on target whilst Brampton Rovers JMA beat West End Killamarsh by four goals to one, Conner Roberts, James Roberts, Ash Barber and Danny Strong on the score sheet.
Into THREE and second placed Oaks FC and third placed Newbold were big winners with Oaks winning 9-1 at Ark Tavern and Newbold beating AFC North Wingfield 7-0. In Oaks win Josh Thomas hit a superb double hat-trick, whilst for Newbold Dan Keenan and Lewis Haywood both hit doubles. The team both sides are trying to catch Renishaw MW continued their fine run of form with a comfortable 4-1 win at New Inn Tupton, their scorers on this occasion being Rio Alberry, Sam Noon, Kyle Pemberton and Ryan Spinks. Brimington Utd’s 4-1 defeat to Pilsley Community was their third on the bounce with Javinder Bowers scoring twice, Tom Newman and Steve Wright for Pilsley.
Brampton Oaks Sports took to the field at New All Inn in FOUR looking for a win that would have moved them up to second place. At the interval David Brent’s fine turn and shot early in the game looked to be taking them there but second half goals from Mick Nash and Jack Rickles turned the game in All Inn’s favour. Spartans beat AFC Castle by two goals to nil to move up to fifth, Craig Tromans and Sean Byrne hitting the winning goals.
Renishaw Rangers winning run finally came to an end in FIVE at the fifteenth time of offing as they were somewhat surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw by a battling Britannia Rose outfit. Second placed Grassmoor Sports didn’t take advantage of the division’s front runners blip as they too were held to a draw, sharing six goals and the points in a 3-3 draw with Barlow Kingston Rovers. Luke Allcock, Thomas Addlington and Troy Stevens goals for Sports were equalled by goals from Steph McCran, Michael Buck and Alex Haythornthwaite. Third placed Bolsover Town cruised to a comfortable 6-0 win over Harleys Scarlets with in form Liam Richardson scoring twice, as did Josh Nicholls with Steve Yates and Kyle Perrins adding a goal each. Gardeners Clay Cross put five past Royal Oak Rangers who scored twice themselves, Steve Rogers scoring a treble for Gardeners, Adam Seward two.Gary Gillthorpe scored twice, Josh Marshall once as Gate Inn North Wingfield beat Dronfield Wanderers 3-0.
In SIX other than the Lockoford Inn Hasland WMC game mentioned earlier just one game was played and it ended with The Castle Arms and Furnace Hill Hurricanes drawing 1-1, Ash Werrin scoring for Arms, Neil Hollingworth for Hurricanes.
Ash Stanley scored the only goal of the game in SEVEN as Newbold Community Football Training won 1-0 at Dronfield Town whilst a goal each from Gavin Sambrook and Martin Cox earned Ye Olde Nags Head a 2-0 victory over Renishaw Rangers TFC.
There was also cup action and in the Dey and Co Alma where NAPIT ONE sides Hasland Devonshire and Wingerworth BMB clashed and it was the former who progressed after winning by five goals to two, Lee Clay, Danny Claridge, Nico Degirolamo, Tom Poole and Chris Betney with the winning goals.
Three games in the Hutson saw Astwith All Stars, Darley Dale Red Star and Spartans 2nd progress at the expense of Whitecotes Wanderers, Woodthorpe Wanderers and Palterton Sporting Club respectively. Astwith won their game 3-1, Red Star 4-1, Slater and Gregory scoring twice and Spartans won 3-1 Bryant scoring two, Smith one.
