Chesterfield are hopeful of completing another signing tomorrow and further departures before the week is out.

The Spireites, who reached a settlement to terminate the contract of striker Delial Brewster (inset) on Monday, are close to their seventh new arrival of the summer.

Manager Martin Allen, who is abroad this week for a friend’s wedding, said: “On Wednesday we could have a player signing.

“Carl (Muggleton, goalkeeping coach) will be there to meet him.

“We’re building a nice little team.”

The Proact boss has already added a goalkeeper, three defenders and two midfielders to his new-look squad but missed out on a striker last week when the deal broke down at the 11th hour.

“My main efforts are currently aimed at those goalscoring, attacking players and centre-forwards,” he said.

“Hopefully we get it all in place over the next 10 days before we start back for pre-season.”

A lot of time is also going into negotiating exits.

“We’re also very close to another termination, we’ve verbally agreed one by mutual consent,” he said.

“Another one or two players are close to leaving as well.”
