SPIREITES: Chesterfield FC complete signing of Gary Liddle from Bradford City

Chesterfield have completed the signing of Gary Liddle from Bradford City.

Liddle, 29, has more than 400 senior appearances to his name after starting out at Hartlepool United under current Spireites boss Danny Wilson.

He joined Notts County in 2012 before moving to Bradford two years later on a free and has become a first team regular at Valley Parade.

Chesterfield boss Danny Wilson said: “I’ve known Gary for the best part of ten years. I took him from Middlesbrough to Hartlepool and he did well for us.

“He’s a versatile, no-nonsense player who is a ‘seven out of ten’ every week and I’m sure the fans will take to him.”

Liddle added: “I’m delighted to get it all sorted. The chance to work with the manager again really appealed to me and that was a major factor in my decision to sign because Danny is one of the best managers I’ve worked for.

“I know Ritchie Humphreys as well and he’s told me about the club. I’m predominantly a midfielder but I can play at centre-back as well.”
