Danny Wilson admitted Chesterfield were beaten by a better side at the Proact today.

Although the scoreboard read 1-0 to Bradford City at full-time, they were guilty of wasting several good chances.

The Town boss said he had to give credit where it was due.

“We’ve been beaten by the better team, you have to be honest,” he said.

“Bradford look very strong, very solid and you can see why they’re fancied in the league this year.

“From our point of view we showed at times we’ve got inexperience in the team but it is what it is, there’s no excuses. We didn’t cause enough problems for them, which we have for most teams this season.

“We had a tough game on Tuesday and performed really, really well. Maybe today came a bit too soon for a few of the lads again, to replicate that again is very difficult.”

The players who gave his side such a hard time for the majority of the game are well known to Wilson and he admits Bradford’s quality and strength in depth was always going to make life difficult.

“They’ve got players in the team that can open defences up and we were stretched at times,” he said.

“You’ve got little Billy Clarke who is a fantastic player I know very well, Morais who comes on as well, little Mark Marshall, I’ve had all three of them so I know how they play. They’re good players and they’re difficult to defend against.

“You’ve got Hiwula up top, a quality player, so just those four are a handful before you look at the rest of the team who are strong and committed.

“They’re a very well balanced side.

“We could never get the type of support they can get and thus be able to afford the players they can get, that’s the way of life.

“We’re not going to try and compare ourselves with them, but we have to compete against them.

“We did for large periods but that little bit of extra quality you need at times, they had.”
