The 31-year-old midfielder was released by Chesterfield in June after making just 16 appearances for the club in two years.

Wedgbury joined Town on a free transfer in 2018 when Martin Allen was manager but he only made three appearances in his first season after injuring his ACL.

In September 2019 John Sheridan told him he could leave the Spireites in order to get more game time.

Wedgbury started John Pemberton’s first four games in charge when he took over in January but did not feature again after a 3-0 defeat to Notts County in February.

Buxton FC announced the signing on Saturday morning. “We're delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Sam Wedgbury who today joins the club after two years at Chesterfield FC,” the Northern Premier League club said.

Former Barrow captain, Josh Granite, 28, has also joined the Bucks.
