REF WATCH: Saturday's man in the middle nearing a yellow card landmark
Andy Haines could show his 100th yellow card of the 2016/17 season this Saturday when Shrewsbury Town visit the Proact Stadium.
The referee has dished out 95 yellows so far during the current campaign and has flashed his red card four times.
And Chesterfield’s visitors appear likely to provoke the referee’s ire once or twice during the game, looking at their disciplinary record.
Gary Deegan has picked up 13 bookings on his own this season.
The current Shrews squad have a total of seven red cards to their collective names as well.
Haines has already refereed the Spireites twice this season.
When they met Bristol Rovers he gave out six bookings, only two of them to Chesterfield players, in a 3-2 Town victory.
And at Gillingham, in a 1-1 draw, he cautioned four players – Tom Anderson the only Spireite to see yellow.
Shrewsbury have been graced by Mr Haines’ presence in the middle just once this season, in their 3-2 win at Oldham.
Abu Ogogo was cautioned, along with Oldham’s Peter Clarke, while the Latics’ Ousmane Fane received two yellows and a subsequent red.
Chesterfield have won three of the 14 games Haines has taken charge of.
In 2013 he sent off Matty Brown in a 2-0 win over Plymouth, and back in 2008 Jamie Ward was dismissed for two yellows in a 2-1 defeat by Rochdale.
The Shrews have won three times in the nine games he’s refereed.
