Liam’s pre-match thoughts
It only feels like two minutes since the last match....oh wait!
Just 48 hours after the win against Wealdstone on Saturday, the Spireites are back in action again and aiming for their third win on the bounce.
On paper, it is another very winnable game but the Linnets will be full of confidence after their comeback victory at Yeovil.
Lynn would have been relegated last season had it been a normal campaign. They finished third bottom, conceding almost 100 goals, but a lot of new players have come in.
Games like today is where Chesterfield’s strength in depth should pay off because they can swap a good number of players and still name a very strong line-up. The hosts, meanwhile, will probably have to name a similar line-up which made the long trip to Yeovil.
Despite their struggles last season the Linnets played some good football and liked to keep the ball on the deck but you would like to think Chesterfield will have more of a clinical edge and be able to get the job done.
I’m going to go for a professional 1-0 Chesterfield win.
Lynn boss: ‘It’s a big ask for us'
Today’s opponents came from a goal down to beat 10-man Yeovil Town 2-1 at Huish Park on Saturday.
Speaking to local newspaper Lynn News after the game, manager Ian Culverhouse said: “I thought we were excellent from start to finish and I’m so proud of all of them.
“There’s still a lot of things we can word on, especially going forward in the final third, but what pleased me the most is that we carried on believing in what we were doing and I thought we were in control before the sending off.
“The way we controlled the ball and some of our passages of play were really good and the pitch really helped us.
“Last season one or two people would have gone missing and we’d have over run the ball in certain areas, but our heads didn’t drop once.
“We’ve got a lot of good characters out on the pitch and you could see that today. They’re a good group and the way they’ve worked this work has been fantastic.”
On facing Chesterfield, Culverhouse added: “It’s a big ask for us, especially after five hours on a coach.
“There isn’t a lot of recovery time but I know whoever wear the shirt they’ll do the club proud.”
