Chesterfield v Yeovil Town: LIVE UPDATES

Key Events

  • FT: Chesterfield 1 v 0 Yeovil Town (5.20pm KO)
  • Jim Kellermann’s superb half-volley before half-time wins it for Spireites
  • Paul Cook’s first victory
  • Spireites 2nd; Glovers 13th
  • One change for Chesterfield as Jeff King returns from suspension to replace Tyrone Williams.
  • Loach; King, Grimes, Maguire, Whittle; Kellermann, Whelan; Mandeville, Asante, Miller; Quigley. Subs: Kerr, Williams, Khan, Rowley, Denton.

But Loach makes a good save from Wilkinson’s header from Barnett’s free-kick from the left. Probably six or seven yards out, should score really. Loach got fingertips to turn it over for a corner.

16 played, 0-0.

Nice play by Mandeville to find Asante inside the area, he takes a touch and gets a shot off on his left foot but he fires it wide. Good connection, but just lacked the accuracy. The closest Town have come so far.

11 played, 0-0.

Penalty claim for Yeovil

Former Spireite Yussuf goes down in the box after Grimes stuck a leg out but nothing was given. I think it would have been soft.

Just before that, a long ball forward caused problems in Town’s backline, Loach came rushing out but didn’t get there and King had to clear the ball away close to the line. Phew.

Decent start from Yeovil.

From Yeovil’s Tom Knowles caused some problems for the home defence there but they just about got it clear.

That looks a dangerous weapon for the Glovers.

Is how Chesterfield are lining-up, just as they did against Wrexham in midweek.

Here we go!

Welcome all to a cold but bright Technique Stadium as we edge closer to kick-off here for this National League clash.

The pitch doesn’t look great, there are lots of patchy areas, so both sets of players will have to keep their eye on the ball even more so today.

Before kick-off there will be a show of support for everyone in Ukraine following the Russian invasion. Our thoughts with those all at this dificult time.

Chesterfield drop to third before kick-off following the earlier results. Nine points off the top. All those around them won except Solihull Moors who drew. The Spireites really need a win here.

Will captain Chesterfield today.
