Chesterfield v Bromley - live updates.
Chesterfield could win their fourth successive match at the start of a new season for the first time since 1954 if they overcome Bromley today.

The Spireites entertain the Ravens at the Technique Stadium aiming to build on wins against Aldershot, Wealdstone and King’s Lynn.

Both these teams took three points off each other last season so it should be a close contest.

Our reporter Liam Norcliffe is at the game and will have all the build-up, team news, updates and reaction.

Chesterfield v Bromley: LIVE UPDATES:

Key Events

  • FT: Chesterfield 2 v 2 Bromley (3pm KO)
  • Michael Cheek scores penalty for Bromley on 38 minutes, George Carline with instant equaliser
  • Manny Oyeleke puts Town ahead in second-half, Cheek grabs equaliser deep into added time
  • 3-4-1-2: Loach; Grimes, Gunning, Maguire; Carline, Weston, Khan, Miller; Clarke; Rowe, Tshimanga. Subs: King, Oyeleke, McCourt, Mandeville, Payne.
  • Four changes for Chesterfield as Grimes, Khan, Clarke and Rowe replace Kerr, McCourt, Mandeville and Payne.

Great play by Miller down the left, he skins his man and chips a lovely cross to the back post where Clarke and Carline are waiting. Clarke goes for it with his head when he should have left it for Carline who was in a better position to finish.

18 gone, 0-0.

Penalty shout for the hosts

Jack Clarke goes down in the box under a challenge from Bromley goalkeeper Mark Cousins but referee Martin Woods rules that Clarke dived and books him.

It was a great pass by Jamie Grimes to send Clarke clear down the left channel.

Laurence Maguire is on the right of the back three today instead of the left, which is where Grimes has started.

Early long throw comes in from Carline, it falls to Grimes but his shot is blocked and Bromley clear.

Here come the teams

The teams are out here at the Technique Stadium where the sun is just threatening to make an appearance.

Chesterfield are of course in their traditional home strip, while the visitors are in red.

Countdown to kick-off

Good afternoon everyone and thanks for joining us if you’ve just tuned in.

Today presents Chesterfield with a chance to record their fourth successive win but they are up against a resolute and tough Bromley side who made the play-offs last season.

A reminder that the Spireites have made four changes with Grimes, Khan, Clarke and Rowe replacing Kerr, McCourt, Mandeville and Payne.

No Kerr in the squad so he had probably not recovered from his cut to the head he suffered in Monday’s win at King’s Lynn.

Players to watch out for Bromley today are Michael Cheek, Jude Arthurs, James Alabi and Jude Arthurs.

Stay with us folks as we bring you all the main talking points from the game.

How the away side line-up

Liam’s pre-match thoughts

Morning all,

On paper you would say this is Chesterfield’s toughest test of the season so far.

Bromley reached the play-offs last season and I fancy them to do the same again this campaign.

The key to winning this one will be stopping Bromley’s counter-attacks and defending set-pieces well.

The Ravens will be well-organised and chances could be limited for the Spireites but in Kabongo Tshimanga they have a man in form with three in three and he doesn’t need many opportunities .

Bromley won at the Technique last season in the last minute but this time they will be up against the wall of noise from the home stands which could be a big advantage for Town.

I hope the Blues take all three points but I’m going to go for 1-1 today.
