‘They know now we are a good side'
George Foster 'not sure' Yeovil paid Chesterfield enough respect as Spireites run out comfortable winners
George Foster said he was ‘not sure’ that Yeovil Town paid Chesterfield enough respect as the Spireites ran out comfortable winners at the Technique Stadium on Saturday.
Final thoughts from fan writer Ben
Full time at the Technique Stadium then and it’s finished 3-0 to the Spireites. I’ll be honest, after a goalless first half, I thought Town had a good chance of securing victory, but I certainly didn’t expect it to be so straightforward. I think that’s testament though to how the Chesterfield players raised their performance levels in that second forty-five. Once again James Rowe’s men were rock solid at the back for the majority, and going forward their were some moments of brilliance, particularly from Tom Whelan, who played a significant role in all three goals, and would probably be my pick for man of the match. Many of Town’s players would be in the running for that accolade though as it was another complete Chesterfield performance across the board, and another big three points for the Spireites as they continue their promotion push, which, at the moment, shows little signs of slowing.

The Spireites run riot in the second-half with goals from Asante, Whelan and McCourt.
Six straight home league wins, and ANOTHER clean sheet.

Reaction from fan writer Ben
Game. Set. Match. Spireites! Excellent work again, 3-0 Town, and if it wasn’t over before, it almost certainly is now. Jak McCourt the scorer this time, with substitute Joel Taylor making his mark on the game with a lovely switch of play across the area to find McCourt in space, who managed to drill the ball into the roof of the net. Another brilliant move, capping a brilliant second half performance from Chesterfield.
Third sub - 81
Mandeville off, Clarke on.
McCourt! Great assist by sub Taylor to dink a ball to the far post to find McCourt who smashed it in. And that should be that! 12 to go.
Second Town sub - 75
Tyson replaces goalscorer Asante with 15 to go. 2-0.
Great defensive block denies Asante. Town dominating and playing some nice stuff.
WHELAN! 2-0. Whelan fires in from the edge of the box to double the lead, assisted by Asante.
20 minutes to go.
Whittle off, Taylor on.
What a chance!
Asante plays the ball out wide to Carline who returns the ball back to Asante, who is about 10 yards out bang in front of goal, but he scuffs it wide. Let’s hope they don’t regret that miss.
