But Uchegbulam’s cross to the far is overhit and McCallum can’t reach it.

Here we go in the second-half.

Town lead 1-0.

HT: Southend United 0 v 1 Chesterfield

A good half from the Spireites. Maguire’s first goal in almost a year has them in front. McCallum has hit the woodwork. A very hard-working performance. Defensively better, too.

Three minutes to the break

The hard-working Spireites still deservedly lead.

Good save by Fitzsimons

To get down low to his right to save from Bridge inside the area. There were lots of bodies in the way so he did well to keep his eye on that.

35 gone, 0-1.

McCallum heads against the crossbar at the back post following a deep cross from Mandeville. That was a big chance for Town to double their lead.

Chance for Chesterfield

Uchegbulam’s strike from the edge of the box deflected wide for a corner.

It came about after a superb lofted ball down the channel sent Colclough on his way.

Town lead 1-0 thanks to Maguire’s header.
