Chesterfield boss Danny Wilson believes the pressure is on Burton Albion.

The Spireites travel to the League One leaders for a rare Friday night kick-off under the lights at the Pirelli Stadium.

But, despite their contrasting positions in the table with Chesterfield a point from the drop zone, Wilson remained upbeat.

He said: “Burton being top of the table at this stage of the season has surprised everyone. They’re there on merit. Week in week out they’ve been grinding results out.

“They’ve changed managers but the momentum has still stayed with them which, from their perspective, is excellent. We know we’re in for a tough game.

“Like a lot of teams in this division, they are very well organised and very disciplined in what they do. I don’t think they open themselves up very much.

“What they’ve done is win games one-nil and have done throughout the season. That says they’re a tough nut to crack.

“But also if you’re in the game early on and can nick a goal then it’s a different entity. That’s got to be our goal - go an unsettle them early, get our noses in front if we can and take it from there.”

He added: “The pressure is on them. They’re up there and everyone is expecting them to stay up there now. They will expect themselves to do well.

“Anything other than a top two will be disappointing for them, considering the position they are in now.

“For us nothing changes, it’s a team we feel we can go there and get a result against. We’ve felt that about every team we’ve played so far.

“I think the performances have proved that. There’s not much between many teams in this division and we include ourselves in that.”

Wilson will be encouraged that both Rochdale and Shrewsbury have beaten the Brewers, under manager Nigel Clough, in recent weeks.

“We’ve got to be resilient in our defensive work,” said Wilson. “What we do know is that we’ve seen teams in recent weeks get results against them by getting their noses in front.

“That’s going to be our challenge.”
