Here are Liam Norcliffe’s player ratings from the game...
5. Jordan Cropper 7
Aldershot did a decent job in doubling up on Cropper and the visitors stopped Chesterfield from getting the ball to him in the first half. He had more joy after the break, particulaly in the final 20 minutes, with one teasing low pull-back creating panic in the Aldershot defence which almost resulted in Denton finding the net. He found Denton again with a another cross but his header was cleared off the line. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
6. Curtis Weston 8
An excellent all-round performance from Weston. Rowe said he was 'outstanding' and that he was the best player on the pitch. Aldershot goalkeeper, Brad James, who made several stunning saves, kept him out twice in the first half and again in the final minutes with Aldershot down to 10-men. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
7. Jonathan Smith 6
Started brightly and forced James into a save early on. As always, can't fault the amount of work he gets through. With two new midfield additions through the door in McCourt and Whelan, Smith and Weston have some competition for their places in the team. Replaced with 20 minutes to go for McCourt. 8. Liam Mandeville 6
Started in place of Rowley after his impressive impact off the bench against Weymouth but he could not quite replicate it again. For me, he was a little bit too deep, particularly in the first half. Having said that, he did play a nice ball through to Asante in the opening minutes. He had a big chance when he closed down goalkeeper James and pinched the ball from him, but with the goal gaping he struck it wide with his left foot from the edge of the box although he was off balance. Replaced by Whelan on the hour. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
