Pinxton pick up a point on the road at Hucknall

Pinxton went in to the game having won seven of their last nine in a run which saw them rise to second in the CMFL South.

Hucknall Rolls were also in good form, unbeaten in five, and among the chasing pack in sixth - behind rivals Hucknall Town.

The hosts looked to make home advantage count during the opening exchanges, enjoying possession and controlling the tempo.

Chay Bettridge and Jack Smith were a constant thorn in the side of Pinxton’s defence, with the former heading narrowly wide.

It was the first effort on goal from either team in a match that was waiting to burst in to life, which it did in the 35th minute.

Rolls went a goal up, like they did in the previous fixture, when Smith turned his man and drilled in his 12th of the season. Pinxton trailed at the break but had come from behind before and did so again after a switch in formation to 3-4-3. It had the desired effect.

The away side pressed and harried Rolls, who dropped deeper and deeper, and inevitabley the equaliser came ten minutes after the break.

A defensive clearance was inch perfect for O’Donnell who brushed off a challenge and smashed in from ten yards out to level the score.

The game had swung in favour of Pinxton who were in control but couldn’t find a second their second half performance deserved.

Instead it was Rolls who were closest to finding the winner when Smith ran 35 yards with the ball, rounded the keeper but hit the post from an angle.
