One year with no fans - pictures show Chesterfield supporters at last match before country went into lockdown

This weekend will mark one year since Chesterfield fans were allowed to watch their team inside a stadium.

Spireites supporters travelled in good numbers to the Crabble Stadium for the game against Dover Athletic on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

The Blues, then managed by John Pemberton, were in desperate need of points as they battled relegation, took the lead through Tom Denton’s 80th minute penalty but were pegged back nine minutes later and had to settle for a point.

The country went into lockdown two days later and Town fans have not been able to attend a match since.

No more matches were played in the 2019/2020 season and the campaign was curtailed, with Chesterfield just escaping relegation after positions were decided on points per game.

It is hoped that supporters might be able to return to grounds from May 17.
