New signing Sefton Gonzales is the striker Matlock Town have been looking for
Gonzales, standing at 6’5”, was at South Shields last season netting five goals in 13 appearances for the Mariners, having begun the campaign at Colne.
Earlier in his career, Gonzales had played for FC United of Manchester,Stockport County, Stalybridge Celtic and Chorley.
He is Phillips’ fifth signing of the summer.

Hide Ad“I’ve had the lad before and he’s gone on to score goals” said the Gladiators chief.
“He’ll be both the perfect foil and the target man we’ve been crying out for, and will compliment our forward line with his physicality.
"He can play as a number nine or play at the side of someone and he’s quick. A lot of teams have been after him so I’m really delighted to get this deal over the line and, all being well, he’ll perform how we know he can and we’ll have a right player on our hands.”
This news will be welcomed by all Matlock supporters who saw their side struggle for goals last season, netting only 36 times in their truncated 2019/20 season, which saw them play 28 matches before the Covid-19 outbreak.
