The 23-year-old striker has joined Chesterfield subject to National League and Football Association, from King’s Lynn Town, who they beat on Saturday.

We are led to believe Town have paid £25,000, with £10,000 in potential add-ons, for the Grenada international.

He was not eligible to play against the Linnets.

Rowe said: “We were trying to get it done yesterday (Friday) but we could not quite get it over the line.

“I have watched him intently, the recruitment team have flagged him up to me so I have studied his game.

“I have always said that if a player is available that can strengthen us and can move with us in the right direction (then we would be interested).

“He is certainly one of those, one I can develop further and he has got aspirations to play higher like we have at our football club.”

Mitchell came through Leicester City’s academy before signing for Nuneaten and then Coalville Town. He joined the Linnets last October.

"We thank Kairo for his time at the club and wish him every success for the future,” King’s Lynn said in a statement after his departure.
