Harrogate Town will be playing in the Football League for the first time in their history after beating Notts County in the National League Play-off final at Wembley.

Goals from George Thomson and Connor Hall put Simon Weaver’s side in control in the opening 30 minutes in front of an empty stadium.

County hit back straight after half-time with a free-kick from Callum Roberts, but Jack Diamond restored Harrogate’s two-goal lead with 20 minutes to go.

Harrogate, who finished second in the National League, will be playing in League Two next season with champions Barrow.

Manager Weaver said: "It's a dream come true.”

But it will be a second season in the fifth tier for the Magpies.

County boss Neal Ardley said he was “devastated.”

“We just weren't at it,” he added.

Meanwhile, Altrincham beat Boston United 1-0 in the National League North play-off final, while Weymouth defeated Dartford on penalties in the National League South final.
