Millers keep up perfect league start at Harworth

Clay Cross Town maintained their 100 per cent start to the CML North campaign at Harworth Colliery last Saturday.

In a game that many expected would be another tricky fixture in the opening weeks for the Millers, they won 3-0.

Despite a period of early pressure from the hosts the first goal came for the Millers from the penalty spot when Tomas Poole calmly slotted it past Charlie Willerby.

Both sides then entered into a contest of good attacking play but the Millers increased their lead on 32 minutes when Ant Lynam reacted first to a cleverly worked free-kick.

The third, and what proved to be the decisive goal, came on the stroke of half-time when the irrepressible Tomas Poole fired home from 25 yards.

The second half was interrupted by strong blustery winds and heavy rainfall but the game as a contest never dwindled although there was no further scoring.

This weekend sees the Millers in action with two big home games against league new boys Tideswell United on Saturday and the early league leaders, FC Bolsover on Bank Holiday Monday. Both kick off at 3pm.
