One National League chairman, who spoke to The Athletic this week, estimated that 15 of the 23 clubs in non-League’s top flight wanted to keep playing, with Stockport County the ‘de facto whip’ urging against a vote for curtailment.

If this is the case then the season will continue as a majority of 51% is needed.

Chesterfield want the season to carry on, as do Notts County, Hartlepool United and Sutton United.

Other clubs will have submitted their votes but have not gone public at this stage.

If the National League North and National League South are made null and void then there will not be any relegation from Step One this season.
