Chesterfield have already offered new contracts “in principle” to Haydn Hollis, Tom Denton, Jamie Sharman, Regan Hutchinson and Luke Rawson.

There is huge uncertainty for everyone at the moment with the National League saying the August 8 start date for the new campaign will “inevitably” need to be “reviewed” and “updated.”

Jalal joined Town on a two-year deal in 2018 on a free transfer when Martin Allen was in charge.

He made 31 appearances for Chesterfield this season and kept six clean sheets.

"I was all set to go, then Chesterfield rang me up and offered me a two-year deal.

"I spoke to a lot of people and they all said you're a long time retired, job can wait.”
