The 24-year-old has started all four games for the club this season following his move from Scunthorpe United.

He has predominantly been used in front of the back four in Spireites boss Paul Cook’s preferred set up.

Ryan played an integral part in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Rochdale when he supplied a telling pass for Gary Roberts equaliser.

And he is enjoying seeing more of the ball in one of the anchoring positions alongside fellow summer signing Sam Morsy.

Ryan said: “Normally I push on further than I have been doing, but I’m enjoying my role sitting a bit deeper.

“I’m getting a lot of the ball and enjoying my football at the minute, if I can get a few goals it will be a bonus.

“I saw the run of Gary and luckily enough it’s gone where I wanted it to and he’s finished it superbly.

Ryan and Morsy have struck up a promising partnership in Chesterfield’s engine room.

“Sam’s a good player and we compliment the way each other play, hopefully we can keep it going,” Ryan added.

“The four players ahead of us make our job a lot easier with the work rate they put in.”
