I would like someone who has managed in this division and has turned round a team’s fortunes.

Ex Shrewsbury manager Paul Hurst is out of work at the moment, but whether he would step into non-league is another question.

Tim Flowers would be a great choice seeing as he nearly got Solihull Moors promoted. He then took a job at Macclesfield before they imploded. The Silkmen can’t have been paying massive wages so maybe he would fit the bill?

It is the third season in a row where we have started a non-league campaign badly, given the manager the elbow and looked for a new boss to save us.

We can all look back and say recruitment has not been good enough for the past three years, but then again there’s been little budget for any manager to spend, especially when we have poor players on decent contracts. The side is still suffering from some of Martin Allen’s signings still being at the club.

Reflecting on the Notts County defeat, I was glad John Dungworth lined the side up as a 4-4-2 to try and cover up deficiencies in central midfield and defence. A little more application at the end and the Spireites might not be languishing in the bottom three with only two wins to our name.

Even Dungworth called the performance against Notts County ‘unprofessional’, and for the second time in a week we lost 3-2 despite having been in a winning position in the match.

Hopefully better times are just around the corner.
