The 22-year-old, who signed from Kidderminister Harriers in the summer, scored his first goal for the club against Stockport County in the FA Cup to take the game to penalties, before rolling in the winning spot-kick during the shootout.

Butterfield has started three matches this season – two in the league and the FA Cup win at Edgeley Park.

It was his best game in a Town shirt and Pemberton believes there is more to come from the Bermudian international this season.

“He is getting better,” Pemberton said. “He is 22-years-old, he is only a young boy. He is understanding what the level is. I think it is just a tough league for people. He is used to playing in a team (Kiderminister) that was technically good. He has played in a midfield where it has not been as hectic so it is a slightly different way of playing but I know he will only get better.

"He has been a bit up and down, he is quite a laid-back character but he is understanding more what this league is about and he is an intelligent guy.

"I have regular dialogue with him and he knows what the improvements needs to be for him and he knows where he needs to be but I have every faith in him and he is going to be a real asset to this football club.”
