Goals from Gavin Gunning, Marcus Dinanga and George Carline, all from Tom Whelan corners, put Town in a commanding position at half-time despite Charlie’s Cooper’s penalty for the hosts.
Jack Clarke added a fourth with two minutes to go to seal all three points for the Blues.
The one negative was an injury to Fraser Kerr, who hobbled off in the first-half with an ankle problem.
Here are Liam Norcliffe’s player ratings...
1. James Montgomery 7
Given a rare start ahead of Smith and he had a good game. Rowe said the decision was tactical. Made a decent stop from Cooper's free-kick in the first-half and a couple more smart saves after the break. Got a touch to Cooper's penalty but couldn't keep it out. A close eight out of ten. 2. George Carline 8
My man of the match. Filled in at centre-back after Kerr went off injured and was solid. Grabbed his second goal for Town to make it 3-1, sweeping the ball home at the far post after Whelan's corner was flicked on. Could have had another but he glanced wide Whelan's corner in the second-half. Rowe said he was 'immense' and that he was Chesterfield's best player 'by a mile'. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
3. Fraser Kerr N/A
The downside to the day was Kerr going off injured in the first-half with an ankle injury. He was seen in a protective boot and after the game. Rowe said it did not look good. Photo: Craig Brough/AHPIX LTD
4. Gavin Gunning 7
A commanding and dominant performance. Scored his second goal for the club when he nodded the opener from Whelan's corner. Pulled his groin late on, could be a doubt for Tuesday. Photo: Craig Brough/AHPIX LTD
