Despite controlling large periods of the game, Town could not break the deadlock and had to settle for a point.
With the Blues on top in the first half, Joe Rowley suffered a hamstring injury and had to go off and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The result leaves Chesterfield in 13th, just two points off the play-offs.

5. Laurence Maguire 8
A solid showing. He was happy to receive the ball when under pressure and play it out from the back. Can't fault any of Town's three centre-backs. Photo: Phil Tooley
A good showing after his debut on Saturday. Certainly not afraid to get forward, a couple of times he was trying to get on the end of crosses and was the furthest man forward. Going to be a great battle between him and Joel Taylor for a starting spot in the coming weeks. Photo: Phil Tooley
Saw a lot of the ball in the second half. Whipped in a dangerous free-kick which was begging to be headed in. Booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle had gone. Awaiting confirmation that was his fifth yellow of the season. Will miss Dagenham away on Saturday if so. Photo: Phil Tooley
