Tom Whelan was harshly sent off after 10 minutes but the Spireites took the lead when Will Evans fired in.
However, the Daggers hit back instantly through Scott Wilson.
The Blues went in front again when Akwasi Asante scored from close-range after a brilliant piece of skill from Haydn Hollis, but Sam Deering curled in from 25 yards to level the score just after the break.

Nothing he could do about either of Dagenham's two goals, especially the second from Sam Deering which flew into the top corner from distance. Tipped another Deering effort onto the post. Commanded his box well and swept up at the back when needed. Photo: Phil Tooley
. George Carline 8
Both of Chesterfield's goals came from his long throws. Almost grabbed an assist with a brilliant cross which Evans came very close to turning in at the far post. In general he was excellent and is an important player for the Blues. Photo: Dean Atkins
. Will Evans 7
Another good performance from the captain who scored Chesterfield's first goal when he fired in from inside the area. It was his first goal of the season. He was close to getting a second from a Carline cross in the second half, he claimed his shirt was being pulled but the referee waved his appeals away. Photo: Rachel Atkins
. Haydn Hollis 8
Produced an outrageous piece of skill to bring the ball down in the Dagenham box, cut inside his man and shoot towards goal. His shot was saved but Asante tapped in to put Chesterfield 2-1 up. He looks a totally different player at the heart of that back three. He's been outstanding. Photo: Phil Tooley
