How Ross Fitzsimons showed desire to re-join Chesterfield from Notts County

The 25-year-old joined Town on loan in January as cover for Shwan Jalal but he was recalled after just one week because of an injury to first-team stopper Sam Slocombe.

He played against Chesterfield on Saturday and saved a first-half penalty from Scott Boden.

And less than 48 hours later he was back at the Proact on a loan deal until the end of the season. County’s assistant manager, Neil Cox, said: “We had a very amicable chat with Ross and he’s decided to move on. While we wanted Ross to stay and provide competition for our goalkeeping spot, the manager can’t guarantee anyone a starting role in the team.

“Ross wants to play as many games as he can and he feels Chesterfield will be the best place for him to do that. We wish him well.”
