According to Football Association records, the Spireites spent as little as £1,430 for the 12-month period between February 1, 2020 and February 1, 2021.

The fees went on transfers for Milan Butterfield, Kyle Letheren, Joel Taylor and Martin Smith.

This sum is much less than the £16,090 they paid during the same period from 2019 to 2020.

Town were among the lowest spenders on agents’ fees in the National League.

Notts County topped the list with £57,958, Stockport County were next with £46,275 and Solihull Moors third with £25,218. Dagenham and Redbridge spent £18,085 and Hartlepool United paid £14,403.

Non-league clubs spent a total of £271,838 overall, compared to £319,634 the previous year.

Premier League clubs spent a huge £272m, while £40m was paid by those in the Championship, £3m in League One and £1m in League Two.
