With the ink barely dry on his season-long loan contract from Bolton Wanderers, Joel Randall’s stoppage-time equaliser just seven minutes after coming on as a sub made the 3-3 draw against Barnet almost feel like a victory for a team that had trailed three times.
The fleet-footed Louie Marsh’s two goals on his full debut made him an obvious Man of the Match and it was that, combined with a big dollop of resilience, that helped snaffle a point against lively and dangerous opponents who are starting this season how they finished the last one.
Here are our Spireites ratings from the game.

1. Ryan Boot 6
Ryan Boot 6: Not quite as assured as normal. Came and missed a punch in the first half and sloppy with his distribution at times but came up with a big save to stick out a leg and deny Charlie Lakin a goal which would have put Barnet 3-1 in the clear. Photo: Brian Eyre

2. Remeao Hutton 7
Remeao Hutton 7: More prominent than against Gillingham. Really pushed on down the right and clipped in some decent centres. Had a hand in two of his team's goals and popped up with an important block in a bout of penalty area ping-pong soon after half time. Booked. Photo: Brian Eyre

3. Alfie Pond 7
Alfie Pond 7: Has had to wait patiently for his debut. Two good strong early blocks set the tone for a decent one in place of the rested Kyle McFadzean despite the defensive chaos. Booked. Photo: Tina Jenner

4. Jack Simpson 6
Jack Simpson 6: Captain for the day was not the only one to be stretched by a lively Barnet attack. Outjumped for the Route One effort scored by ex-Spireite Kabongo Tshimanga late on. Photo: Tina Jenner
