Corbi Brown hit the only goal of the game in the 71st minute as The Lions squeezed past basesment boys Barrow.

It left Clarence disappointed at his side’s failure to brush aside a team who have lost all their games and conceded 17 in the process.

“I’m pleased with three points, but it wasn’t vintage,” he said. “We’ve got five or six more gears, or should have.

“I’m not making excuses. This wasn’t the side that has been suffering big losses, but we should have rolled them over and we didn’t.

“It took us 71 minutes to score. We’ve had chance after chance and the quality wasn’t good enough.

"We are nowhere near where we want to be but three points is all that matters. We changed shape and put another striker on to get an extra body.

"It was not a formation we want to play but It was about getting three points.”

Heanor came close to opening the scoring in the 13th minute when Scott Taylor hit the post.

Kyle Hazeldine also hit the post before Taylor had a shot cleared off the line after pouncing on a goalkeeping error.

Brown fired just over the bar at the start of the second half, before Kieran Debrouwer headed inches wide.

But they got their reward when Brown got on the end of Joe Nice’s cross to acrobatically volley home.

Heanor face Ingles next weekend as they look to up momentum.
