The club’s development team beat Derby Singh Brothers 3-2 at the weekend to progress to the semi-finals of the MRA end of season League Cup.

And the Glapwell chairman admitted seeing the club’s name on a trophy would be a special feeling.

“It would mean a lot to the club to get a trophy,” he said.

“It would be a great reward and put the icing on the cake for the lads and the club as a whole.

“They have adapted well and are finishing their season well. It would be a nice reward, it is always nice to see Glapwell on a trophy..

“A trophy would give us a chance to go to the next level and is a sign that we are progressing.”

Wajs is also happy with the progress of the club as a whole and is confident the performance of the development team can signal a good future ahead.

“We are moving in the right direction,” he added. “The hardest thing was establishing the team after a difficult pre-season and stop start season.

“We have got good young lads in the development team and we are looking to build on that next season.

“Hopefully the young lads can challenge for a first team spot. One has already been promoted due to his hard work and performances.

“We want to promote from within. We’ve started to put plans in place for next season and are just waiting to see where the restructure takes us. We just want to keep bringing quality through.”
