Vale’s play-off hopes were severely dented by the Spireites’ 4-2 win, that came despite leaving the field 1-0 down to a chorus of boos at the break.

The introduction of substitutes Gboly Ariyibi and Jay O’Shea changed the game, both players scoring and bagging an assist.

Page was unimpressed however.

“They are the worst goals I have ever seen conceded,” he said.

“They haven’t had to work hard for any of them.”

Page’s men dominated before the break, but were left shellshocked with what followed the interval.

Admitting it was a tale of two halves, he said: “In the first half we looked a side in the right half of the table and they looked like a team scrapping to stay up.

“Then roles were reversed at half-time.

“We couldn’t find a pass and they increased the tempo with their changes.

“We were in total control and then they’ve made two changes that were key for them.”
