The 26-year-old finished last season as the Spireites’ top scorer with 11 goals in all competitions but left in the summer after deciding to ‘keep his options open’, manager John Pemberton previously told the DT.

On signings for the Shots, Fondop said: “I’m happy to have signed, it’s always good to get back involved in the competition.

“I’ve been looking for a new challenge as well, so I’m delighted to sign for the club.”

Fondop signed for the Blues on a free transfer from Wrexham in August 2019 when John Sheridan was manager.

The forward made an instant impact with two goals on his debut against Barnet.

He continued his good form with goals against Barrow, Dagenham and Redbridge and FC Halifax Town to take his tally to five in five games.

A run of six games without a goal ended when he hit a double at AFC Fylde in a 3-1 win.

His last goal for Town came on Boxing Day in the 2-2 draw against Solihull Moors.

Fondop was sent off after the full-time whistle against Sutton United in Pemberton’s first match as caretaker manager in January and later fell behind Tom Denton and Nathan Tyson in the pecking order.

He will come up against his former club when Chesterfield host Aldershot at the Technique Stadium on December 1.

His length of the contract has not been made public and has only been described as a ‘short-term deal’.

Fondop will wear shirt number 36 for his new club.
